Résumés and Interviews

Welcome

I know I’m supposed to have a professional headshot — standing against a tree or in front of a fireplace with my arm resting on the mantel. But that’s not me. So here I am with one of my favorite dogs of all time, Slick. (Please don’t tell the other dogs I said that.)

As for credentials: I’ve been a headhunter for more years than I care to claim. I did retained searches in the medical device, diagnostics, biotech, and pharma industries, and I’ve completed more than 500 searches, which means I’ve evaluated, edited, and written thousands of résumés. I’ve also interviewed and done reference checks on more than 1,000 candidates. What does that mean? It means I’ve seen a lot of crazy stuff.

By the way, the picture to the right is Dennis — the very large wild boar who takes walks with me every day and happens to be my best buddy.

The categories below cover what I’ve learned from all of it — what works in a résumé, what kills your chances in an interview, and everything in between. Browse around, and if you disagree with something, the email link is at the bottom.
